We hear a lot of criticism about Land Rover dealers.
This is a good news story.
I've had 5 Range Rovers over the years and now have a Disco 3 TDV6 (actually a TDV5 at the moment.) I've never had ANY dealings with a Land Rover dealer until last week.
You may remember my Disco has a buggered engine, and it was the local Canberra dealer, Lennock Land Rover who took the time and effort to diagnose the problem correctly.
I called in a week or so ago, and a 'technician' came out to listen to my car, then the service manager had a listen. They spent at least 30 minutes listening and discussing with me what the problem could be.
They gave me some advice and I agreed to book the car in after Anzac day for a few hours parts removal and further investigation. I was quoted 'upto $600' worth.
Later that day I returned with the sump so they could have a look at the oil.
They took off 3 injectors and put their little camera down to inspect the bores, they rang me to come in and have a look and showed me the damage and even I could see and understand what they were saying about how the engine was scrap.
They told me the re-engine options I had already researched were far better value than anything they could provide.
They put all the bits back on as the car is still basically driveable at the moment and when I returned to pick it u the total cost was $460.
They even washed the car and blacked the tyres for me! At least it looks good.
Excellent all round service!
