I really, really used to hate when people talked of their 'Jeep' when referring to their FJ40 'cruiser, Series III or G60 Patrol way back when I drove Jeeps :p

It is a big flag that says "I have no idea about cars!"
Just like a 'Hoover' is any vac and an esky is any cool box.
Breathe and educate them nicely :)

You should see the reaction I get when I compliment toyota drivers on their "cool looking Land Rover".

Imagine bicarb and vinegar type reaction. Foam and all!

I've never had that with my Defender (110) but have certainly heard it with my 2a ...

I get it from my sister who lived in USA for 12 years

After her return some 5/6 years ago, she still can't get it right, especially now we've got the Defender.

But what you could say in return when asked the question is ,, "No, but I have a black Defender parked around here somewhere". sounding quizzically, whilst aimlessly looking around. :D

Just nod and smile. My workmates hit me with it from time to time to get a reaction. Don't react and they soon tire. You may just be bumping into my mates. Or others like them. I'm tipping they're not always ignorant of the difference.

I have had my SIIa referred to as a Jeep, a Land Cruiser and a truck. I also own a Blitz truck and Jeep, but they have only ever seen the SIIa. They look confused when they ask how is the truck going, meaning the Land Rover, and I tell them about the Blitz.

I get it at KFC and McDonalds drive through often.
Last time the young girl said to me' wow that thing is Murdered, I want a jeep one day' I had to look up what murdered meant.

Guess that is also a confession that I eat too much KFC and Maccas.

Got a cure for that... since we got our RTT we can't fit through the average drive-through anymore, works a treat and hardly been since

I haven't had that issue with the county yet probably because it's a 110. But I used to get it back when I had a Suzuki Sierra. I ended up just going with it.

I caught an episode of the BBC Series "Coast" on the telly recently heard the presenter (Alice Roberts) make some reference to the "Jeep" making a "...hasty retreat from the beach before the tide comes in."

The "Jeep" in question was quite clearly a Land Rover. I can't believe how much this error annoyed me!

MR LR sent me a pic the other day of a hilux with a One Life, Live It sticker on it :D
He said he was going to pass a note through the window, until I pointed out reading isn't a strong point of hilux owners
