Hey all. old member who forgot his name, email and password from when he owned a td5 disco has been meaning to re-join, and this mornings events seam as good an excuse as any.
2010 puma 2.4 110. driving to work, everything is normal for the first 10 minutes. Then I pull off from a set of lights, and after smoothly going up through first, I grab second and have no power. double de clutch out and back into second again and i have power. change to third-everythings fine. This problem kept on re occuring in second, and in third, and eventually I stalled in second under acceloration on a roundabout. Limped into work.
When i say i lost power, it was almost as if the engine went into safe mode. Iwasnt getting anywhere near the response Ishould have been getting from the accelorator input, untill it stalled the final time.
No warning lights (untill the stall) temps running fine. Checked fuel-fine. Very much up the creek and confused-after having replaced the transfer and diff in the last fortnight, this sort of silly bugger crap is the last thing I need the 110 to be doing!
Cheers in advance guys-look out on the intros page for a post to day with a little bit more about me and my current rig, and my mighty disco (may she rest in peace).

Some random thoughts. My money's on a fuel related issue especially as it stalled and there is no engine management light.
A Clogged fuel filter. I'd guess fuel demand would be higher in 2/3 and perhaps it's ingesting water through a flooded fuel filter?
Air leak at fuel filter head. Under higher engine loads - perhaps it's drawing air through a small leak in the fuel filter head.
Could you have damaged a fuel hose during the transfer swap, perhaps a small crack is letting air into the system.

My money's on number 1 - to the OP, when did you last change this filter?
Edit: you're in Canberra (minus 2 this morning) so it could also be fuel gelling - which could also be the result of water in the filter freezing and/or out of town diesel not being up to spec. I had this issue at the snow last year - would idle bug would die at higher throttle settings.

Filter replaced 8k ago. Drained and contents look fine. Thought itmay have been some gunky fuel due to the cold but that doesnt explain the fact that it ran fine through all rev ranges for 10 mins before the first sign of any problems.
Ended up getting it into canberra motor works (landy specialist in canberra) and they're going to give it the once over. Important to note that she drove perfectly from work to the work shop-even more puzzling. May not be able to work out the issue unless it happens again-but hopefully auto logic might have recorded a fault.
Will keep everyone updated. Great to be back on this forum-just a shame the circumstances under which ive made my return!
Thanks again!

Bit warmer when you drove it later by any chance? :D In my experience they'll run ok for a little while and/or on lower throttle settings when you've got filter issues.

It's possible for the fuel to create layers within the fuel tank, a layer of liquid and a layer of liquid + solid. Assuming this, it could take up to 10 minutes for the fuel that is liquid and solid to get to the fuel line +/or filter. I'd assume it's a block of some sort that is related to temperature. (could be why the filter looked clear when you checked it later?)
But I'm only speculating...
