I have just signed up today with SGIO Comprehensive Insurance on my 1996 HSE. Cost including option for maintaining No Claim bonus as well as agreed value of $12,090 with $800 excess. And they cover accessories. Comparitive quotes have been upwards of $600. My renewal with CGU for instance was $630 for "market price" of the car with the same excess :o

Jeez, that's half mine which is due next month. I think I'll be changing insurers.

Got the renewal today, mine will be insured for $12,090 and the premium is $805 less a safe driver credit of $105. Payable premium $700.

Interesting that the insurance cover with your insurer is identical to mine with AAMI.

I've just recently ditched my GIO cover for the P38.

When i first insured with them the price for comprehensive cover plus hire car and windscreen was $530. The following year it went to $ 589, then $649 until finally a bill for $889. When i questioned then about the increase, i did not get a valid answer apart from the fact that they reckon they've paid out millions in the past year. Well i certainly didnt see a penny of that, and i basically told them unless a better deal could be struck in the next 4 weeks, the the deal is off.

I may look at more specific 4x4 insurance companies that offer a better level of coverage for a similar price.

Hi

There was an episode of the checkout recently where they went over this stuff, and basically they offer better deals to new customers who switch than they do to most existing customers

The advice was to threaten to switch insurers which usually produces a better deal!

I saw that episode recently too. Always good entertainment around facts :D. I did give my insurance broker a chance to renegotiate, but under their advice I am now with SGIO. given I now have a better $ value if written off plus half the price for the policy I felt it was a too good a deal to pass up.

I use a broker for some insurance, but not for my vehicle, I might give them a shot at the vehicle insurance as well

The SGIO insurance cover I have was not through the broker. I did it on line for a greater discount.
