Brake Pedal Shaft Removal Help

Hi All... I am not sure how to remove the pedal shaft, I have removed the pin and also the nut on the other side ,,, no idea what the bolt does? .... Which way do I knock the shaft out ... Towards the bolt end or the pin end ..... HELP!!!!!!!!

The pedal shaft comes out the pin side of the pedal box.
The bolt is a plug you remove to oil the pedal shaft it should have a fabric washer on it

Ah Thanks Peter, I wasn't sure if the bolt was there to hold the shaft in place.

I am stuck...

I'm trying to remove the pedals for repainting but I can't see how the pin comes out of the end of the pivot.
I've bent my pin punch bashing at it; is it threaded?

Advice please...

From memory the pin is inserted at the factory and then bent (the end of the shaft is hollow and you can see the pin, it looks like this has been punched in from the end).
Can't remember whether the pin is tapered or not but I'm sure it came out easier in one direction.

If you get it out replace it with a roll pin.

Can't give a definitive answer to this one as it was a year or so back that I removed one. However, it was a pin and I used a punch to remove it.

From memory I had read in a manual that it was held in by a pin but I couldn't see the ends. So, I took to the protruding end of the tube with a wire brush to clean it up and that revealed one end of the pin. Using a gentle touch with a flat file on the opposing side revealed the other end of the pin. Tapping with a punch got it moving - can't remember if it was tapered or not but I believe they are driven in from the top.

The pedal has two bushes which pivot on the tower pin so I can't see why a neat fitting split pin wouldn't serve as well as a roll pin to secure the tower pin in place.

It's only about six bolts to pull the tower out and then you can get a better look at what's going. Only issue is that you will have to disconnect the hydraulic line from the master cylinder.
