I hear that you guys around the Sydney area get together for a meal and a few drinks. I would love to meet some of the Sydney based characters on this Forum.
So when is the next session planned for ?
Or do I have to organise something ?

Hi Tor,
I used to organise these when the D3 was pretty new - usually at the Epping Hotel. The last one I arranged (Homebush) had a grand total of 3 attendees, including me. :(
If there is a little interest - we should make it happen.
Cheers,
Rob

Yeah, good Idea
There is also Wee Jasper, to add to the list I put up, it has a Tavern, camping is nearby at the local reserves, they have amenities also.

I was thinking Wee Jasper. Easy access to the Brindabellas and Long Plain.
The other place that sprang to mind was Bendethra, or maybe Araluen if you want a pub.
Closer to Sydney, places I thought of with reasonably large camping areas were along the Turon River behind Capertee or Abercrombie River.
Pity the pub at Newnes is no longer licensed.

Wow - I knew Sydney Was growing - but not at the rate you guys are talking about?
Where are all these property acquisitions coming from, who is buying up all the land - Asia ?
Good to see that Land Rover owners love to Rover over land !

What was the last D3/D4/RRS number? 23, 24?

Tor, your catch up dinner is being schemed over and becoming an excuse to do something like this:

Hill End is a nice little town; it has been a few years since I've been, so would be interesting.

Flat out with work, I've spoke to him a couple of times and he is doing a lot of behind the sceens work with the new series and interstate meeting, as well as ride days at Wakefield Park.

I'll be up for a little get together with beer if you guys want to organise it. ... ;)
Happy to do another weekend away as well ... That is if people want to do something just a little bit challenging ...
We could invite a few Defenders along just so we could practise recovery methods when the Fenders get stuck trying to follow. ... :p

All of your thoughts please?

Guess it depends on how far people are prepared to travel. It would be nice to somewhere other than the Newnes Plateau for a change.
What about Bylong Creek? Haven't been there myself, but camping looks good and a few tracks to choose from.
Or maybe a trip through Sunny Corner, camping at Woolshed Flat or The Diggings. Those that are feeling adventurous can tackle the hill: Prado climbing "The Hill" (Jackass Hill) in Sunny Corner - YouTube

Yeah, I haven't been there for a while, but its a bit nasty now, some very sharp rocks. Used to be a nice hill. Definitely not 19" territory, but a 3 or 4 on 17"s should cope with it. There is a by-pass track.

How about the Brindabellas?
I'd be up for that, but I suspect it may be considered too far from Sydney. :(
If we had a turn-out like last time we would need a decent sized camp site. Cotter would be out, now they've put the rocks up. Is there anywhere else big enough? The only place I can think of is Wee Jasper.
If we were prepared to travel that far, I would also suggest Bendethra.

Plenty of camping at Flea Creek or MacIntyre's Hut
Haven't been there for a few years so my memory may not be right, but I would have thought Flea Creek was a bit small (remember we had 20+ vehicles last time).
I think MacIntyres is a bit too far in to make it easy for people to get to, especially those unfamiliar with the area - plus it always seems to attract bogans.
Cheers,
Jon

Yes I think you are right Jon, from memory Flea Creek was a bit small, and well MacIntyres is a Bogan Mecca, it was last time we were there, we pulled up to watch drongos doing circle work, so we buggered off.
Wee Jasper would be better I think, Tavern for dinner Saturday night, nice flat grassy area to camp, being cold, there shouldn't many campers around, whether the cold will put people off, I don't know, wouldn't worry us though.

Things are being tossed about, we are meeting Jonesy63 and TerryO Saturday to discuss what the options are, so nothing has been decided as yet.

On another note, I will be at Wee Jasper on the long weekend with some non Land Rover friends, you're welcome to join us, as is anyone else.

There will also be a Sydney pub lunch at noon on Thursday June 12 - at The Ranch Hotel. Link: Home -The Ranch, North Ryde, NSW, 2122 (http://www.theranch.com.au/)
We can then discuss requirements/options on where to go, what is needed, etc for this years D3/D4/RRS weekend away. As well as talk about our rides!
I might put this in a separate thread as well - so it isn't lost.
No need to RSVP - just rock up and have fun!

Dang! I missed out on last years weekend away because of a dodgy back, and it looks like I'll miss out on this years because I'll be somewhere around the Gulf Country! Leaving on the June long weekend, but come to think of it, I think I might prefer my trip to the tropics and the warmth and leave you guys to winter down south! :p
