Hi all,

Just wondering who among us runs with a cargo barrier in their 110 wagons? I'm keen to have a full height model.

What makes are you guys using? i.e. - Milford, Hayman Reese etc etc.

Any pics of cargo barrier installs in a 2014 Defender would be welcome, plus part number if you know it.

Mine is a 2014 Defender 110 5 seater.

EDIT: reason for asking is that locally I seem to have caused a bit of confusion trying to source one (as in... "don't know if it will fit that model"...)

Cheers,
Nige

Hi Nige,

I haven't fitted one yet, but I've been making the same enquiries.

I emailed these guys and was told that this one fits:

http://www.autosafe.com.au/index.php/component/vehicle/

edit - the link doesn't appear to work, but try http://www.autosafe.com.au/ and go to the 'vehicle' tab and choose a defender from there. It gives you the part number and so on.

Is there anything specific that makes you think that the rear of a MY14 would differ from any other Pumas?

I have a Milford fitted to my MY11 and it's great, apart from some occasional squeaking from the mounting hardware. Easy enough to fix on the fly.

After tossing up between a number of options including half-height versions I chose the Milford due to reputation and availability, and I have no regrets.

The only thing I might change if I was to do this again is that I'd probably not bother to have the forward mounts fitted. I can't see myself ever using them.

I've got the autosafe one in our 90 and it's a great bit of kit and very solid. Spoke to Autosafe at the time and they put me onto their reseller who was Roof Racks, Roof Boxes Melbourne, Car Roof Racks Melbourne (http://www.roofracksuperstore.com.au) so got it from them, about $490 fitted from memory.

Not sure how different the 110 version would be but I can take some photos of the mounts and alike if you want.

Only minor complaint is the top half doesn't slope forward like the Milford one so I don't think it is as space efficient, but saying that I haven't seen a Milford in the flesh, only going by the piccies on their website.

Cheers,
Heinz

I have an Autosafe one that's up for sale if you want it. I had it in my 2008 110 Wagon and loved it but now that I have the Mulgo Pop-top and interior storage from Drifta, there's no need for it.

It's in the Marketplace section.

No mate. I didn't say that. I only mentioned the 2014 as that happens to be my model.

I was Just wondering what other people use, as there seems to be some confusion with suppliers here, so I was hoping I could give them a specific part number that I know will fit (from others experience).

I've had Milford in other Japanese trucks before and I rate them highly. Like yourself, I'd probably go without the forward mounts to start with.

Nige

G'day Nige,

I just checked my paperwork, and the part number on my invoice appears to be M706525. That may just be a stock code, but it's all I have. And I paid $569 plus fitting in 2011.

I've been investigating a cargo barrier for my 2009 110.
I rang the Autosafe people and was told they don't make them any more.
The Milford one is $569 from memory.
There is one listed on the Land Rover website for less than that so I might investigate it.

Thanks for all the replies. Time for an update.

I called Autosafe and they were very accommodating. I have fitted a DIY false floor (thick plywood on an aluminium frame) in the back of my 110 and needed to have the barrier custom fitted to match.

After only a phone call and a couple of emails, including me providing a few measurements and photographs, they sent me a barrier they had made to fit my requirements. The whole process was complete in a matter of days and I am very impressed with the end result.

Fitting was initially very fiddly in terms of getting my fat fingers into the channel to replace the passenger hand holds with the barrier fittings. However, the rest was a breeze.

I put it all in for a test fit and it's all good, so left it there for the time being.

I'm in the process of arranging fitment hardware for my fridge and cargo, together with finishing the other components for durability (paint etc).

I will post photos once I'm finished the build.

Cheers,
Nige

Sorry Dan, had a few delays with limited time off and plenty of pre-arranged non-Defender stuff to do. I plan on getting a lot more done in a few days time and pics will follow :)

Yes mate. I finished the install Friday morning. I've just finished a huge shift at work and I'm knackered, so will post an update Saturday sometime.

Sorry it's taken so long ;)

Watch this space (or perhaps Members Rides… I will decide after some sleep).

OK. I've started up a whole new thread in the "Members Rides" section, detailing Agnes as I've developed her so far. That thread includes pics of how I put together the false floor over my spare in the cargo area.

I mentioned in that thread that the blokes at Autosafe custom made me a cargo barrier, based on some photos and measurements I sent to them via email.

I finally installed it all the other day, but here are a few more specific shots of the cargo barrier.

I like the look of that barrier. Can I ask how much it cost? Planning to fit a barrier to mine once I get the drawers in, so researching. Tradesman racks were cheaper than Milford and Autosafe, but I haven't decided.
Looking at yours, there appears to be enough width between the seatback and the barrier to fit one of the Boab slimline 42 litre water tanks, which is what I plan to do eventually.

Hi Mick,

The Autosafe barrier cost me $566.50 delivered, and is an excellent fit given they made it up from my measurements and a couple of emailed photographs of my false floor set up.

Further, once I confirmed the order, I had it within a couple of days!

Cheers,
