I have installed a new radiator but am having trouble with the hoses. If I recall, the original radiator had a flat top (I took it out about two years ago) whereas the new one has a round top.

I also bought new radiator top and bottom hoses. The hoses and radiator inlet/outlet line up perfectly BUT the hoses are slightly smaller diameter and the top hose is a bit short. I have forced the top hose on and have it clamped but it is a bit distorted and not as far on the pipe as I would like.

I have had no luck so far getting the bottom hose on.

My question is, are there two types of radiator hose for the S2A? If not, anyone have a suggestion on how I can get around this problem?

Thanks, Howard

There are two different sets of radiator hoses. Check out the Mackay rubber website.

What a great catalogue they have. I can surely find a solution there...

Thanks,

Howard

G'day HowardSmall :)

The 2a flat top tank radiator(4 core) has a large fillcap and 10lbs pressure with a straight lower hose outlet 2 inches in from the R/H end, the later S3 type round top tank (3 core) was fitted to the series 3's both 4 and 6 and had a standard filler cap and drained into an plastic expansion tank fixed to the left inner guard, the lower outlet on some of the round top units are straight and some have a 45degree bend (difference between 4 & 6 cyls)they are a 13 lbs radiator from memory, and often the vehicle's thermostat is different,I run an 87deg thermo in my 2a 4cylinder ex army :)
