Hi Boys
Sorry but I posted stage 2 again by mistake.
To bring you up to date after new in tank pump fitted all was good with fuel.
Travelled 19 days and guess what new pump failed. Had another one put in at Warnambool as well as in line pump. Now rocking along. But I sure have failed pump in boot to get refund out of Landrover.

But I have a new question: After turning ignition off there is approx 1-3 second delay before engine shuts down. Us old boys used to call it pre ignition, the experts call it dieseling.
Any thoughts on what is causing this please would be much appreciated.
Thanks again
Denis

That’s interesting. I’ve not head of this before so thinking out loud.

Fuel is delivered by injectors, they are opened/controlled by the engine ECU. The engine ECU should be closing the injectors when the key is turned off so no fuel is delivered. If the engine is continuing to run it must be getting fuel. So is it getting diesel or oil (leak in the turbo maybe?)?

When it runs on for 30 sec what’s it like? Is it smooth, bit rough, bit slower?

Check intercooler pipe for oil? Maybe try removing the intercooler to intake pipe, start engine and see if it runs after it is shut off. If there is a fuel supply (to all cylinders) other than the injectors it will be coming in the inlet manifold.

Hi Harlie
#!**# fool I am. NOT 30 seconds but 1 to 3 seconds. Definitely smooth and intermittent. Just went out and started car turned it off and stopped perfect.
