I'm not saying this book hasn't been mentioned before, so, sorry if it has, but I couldn't find a thread on it.
Anyway, I managed to obtain a copy this week. It is of course, for those that don't know, about the "discovery" of Arthur Goddard, well known to many as the Project Engineer for the original Landrover.
Even more importantly, I've managed to have Arthur write a personalized message to Karen & I in the front of the book. We're pretty chuffed about that.
It's a great read, & good to have a copy on my bookshelf.
Incidentally, Arthur is now 93, & still is the engineer for his company, and still working around 35hrs/week.

I found this book some months back. 'They Found Our Engineer' is published in the UK and not sold in Australia. However, with a bit of pushing and shoving I persuaded the Brisbane City Council Library Services to acquire a copy and this can be ordered from any library. Just ask for ‘They Found Our Engineer’, author Michael Bishop. If you want to impress, quote the ISBN which is 978-1-4567-7758-6.

What an inspiration for people who elect to work past retirement age. Just because you are 65+ years doesn't mean you are old and doddery.:p Good on him.:)

Does he know where the elusive remaining centre steer LR is? Bob

Pics?...Well unfortunately I didn't meet Arthur personally, although obviously I'd love to. I obtained my book via the mail.
The centre steer is covered in the book, but very briefly. Arthur & his team very quickly discovered that the centre steer was not practical, & took no further interest in it.

Perhaps we should see if Vehicle Components could add it to their catalogue! :) Home Page (http://www.vehiclecomponents.com.au/)

I can say that I have both some of his original designs and one of his more recent designs, the Hitchmaster D065

The book is already advertized on their website, that's where I found it.
And, it is a great read.
