Reg has died the day before his 75th birthday.
I used to enjoy watching him play and I was always a Saints follower.
Of course that was back in the good old days before the game changed to thugby league.

Great player. I've got some old footage somewhere (I hope) of the mighty Saints in days of yore.

yes Robert, the game has changed a bit:D
Gasnier was from a game that had inside and outside centres, centres that scored by "stepping ' their opposite numbers, not by halfback cutout passes and breaking tackles.

When I was a kid growing up in Coff's Harbour back in the '50s there were two local league teams. My uncle played fullback for the jetty team. It was interesting to see the two fullbacks having a kicking duel, trying to catch the other out of position.

Paul Sait, Rabbitohs great, he spoke very highly of Reg, I used to speak to Paul when I worked at Randwick Council, another great centre who played for Australia, from memory he was Gasniers replacement in the Australian team in 68.
