Hi guys, well, and gals for that matter. ;)

Just wondering how many of us here fish here around Melbourne, be it the beach, peir, rocks or out in a boat, and fly fishing too.

I have a Qunnie tinnie :D (haha I'm a poet, and I did'nt even know it,, yeh I know, I laugh at the stupidist things ),, so anyway, its a 3.9 (?) V-Nose or there abouts anyway.

Its been out of action for some time, going again now, but desperately hoping to get back in the groove in the near future (Spring at least). Got a few things on my plate until then.

Last year I went for a drive down to the start of the 90ML Beach for a weekends surf beach fishing, but it was very cold, and thus very disapointing in more ways than one, although the dog had a ball :D

So, what I'm wondering, is just who here likes to have a fish, and how often?
I am thinking that maybe we could get together and organise a weekend maybe, or even just a day, out flicking rods or soaking a few baits.
I love fishing, but quite often find myself just lost in the location and not even wetting a line,,,
Ahhhh, the serenity,,,

Hope to hear from you.
Cheers Chops

HI Chops, I was just having a look at the fishing section here because my two sons have started asking about going fishing. I haven't been fishing since my teenage years.

Anyway I have bought them a starter rod and reel each and we are going to have a little bit of a poke around some of the tracks that access the Goulburn River. Should at least be good to explore, even if we don't catch anything.

Back in the days when I did fish, I would mainly do beach and estuary around the Illawarra. I have never even looked at freshwater so it could be interesting. I have pulled my old rods out of the shed and cleaned them up, the estuary rod will be fine to start with just have to go down to the local servo and get the fishing licence.

I think that fishing is something which should combine well with four wheel driving, it is just a matter of time allocations. It would be a great way to end the day on an overnighter, set up camp and then wet a line for a couple of hours.

Looking at the beach rod and the alvey, I would love to do some beach fishing. I am in the 'bit too busy' camp at the moment though. We are trying to get away at new years though and the rod is going to find its way into the back of the car that's for sure.

Good luck with getting some time to get out there! I'm looking forward to it and I wasn't even very good at fishing when I did do it. I think that it is just something about getting outdoors and the water, and well yes the serenity … what the hell Bonnie Doon is not too far from here.

I'll report back on how we go in the goulburn, you never know, could be that a tallarook / goulburn trip would scratch several itches.

Cheers
