Spotted just a few clicks south of Wilpena, SA a few weeks ago on my Simpson Desert trip.
I love it. Is the owner of the property a forum regular?

Pics of this postbox have been posted on here before but no-one on AULRO has ever claimed ownership of it.
I asked last year: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/180849-spotted-my-travels.html :)

Hello from Brisbane.
Nice mailbox there. My first Land Rover (54 86") was the same colour - leftover paint from a bathroom in an old hut.
Thought you might be interested in another one from Africa:

Taken in Maun Botswana a couple of years ago.

It belongs to Keith Rasheed, one of the pioneers of tourism in the Flinders Ranges. One of the first to establish private tourism before the Wilpena area was a National Park and back when it was an adventurous destination at the end of a long dirt road full of bull dust and ruts. He actually owns a pink Series Landy that the PO box at his current front gate is based on. As far as I know he is not a member here.

Ah, I have seen that post box many times :)
We always used to go camping on a private sheep station managed by a friend right next to Wilpena Pound. I don't how long that box has been there but it might have been my whole life.
Thanks to Marty110 for the back story. Very interesting.

Isn't it a beauty, and thanks Marty110 for solving the mystery of who owns it.
Hands up who hasn't taken a photo of it as they've gone past.

We passed that one on the way down and back to our block in NSW at Easter time... pretty cool, though we didn't stop to have a close look.
Good friend of mine has made a 1/2 scale model. Tons of designs available on the internet to those who would like to make their own.

Hell again from Brisbane.
This one from west of the Darling between Bourke and Louth has a fairly innovative means for letting the postman know there is mail to collect.

That or it's not just the hats that are bigger out west.
