We are planning a trip to the snow in July and I have read on other parts of this site about using alpine diesel if overnight above snowline areas.

I havent seen any reference to D3/D4 usage of alpine diesel and I was wondering if maybe the D4 has some electronics that stops any diesel waxing issues or is it just as prone to waxing as others.

Any personal experiences/recommendations would be appreciated, by this tropical D4 owner.

Just as prone to waxing as any other vehicle. Make sure you buy your alpine diesel well away from the ski fields so that you tank has a full dose when you get there - some fill when they arrive and therefore may still have a large proportion of normal diesel in their tank so the alpine diesel is "watered down.

We have a small holiday house in the Vic high country. Every winter we have to use alpine fuel. Never had an issue, but as mentioned by Gary we always try to have a mixture of non alpine and alpine fuel in the tank. Not always possible

Another suggestion to time your refill with your arrival.
