See it's tail wagging ... the dog thought it was a game. It would already be one very dead dog if it was anywhere near my place.

I don't think that dog was playing - it was in territorial mode. No barking, no hesitation and attacking from behind. The wounds also tell the story too. A dog knows its power and if playing will not exert the kind of pressure required to puncture skin.

This sort of thing - without the cat, unfortunately - happens a bit around here, so we're pretty careful, but that dog wouldn't live to see the end of the day if I had my way.

Fantastic! :) Thats why I love my cats! yeah the dog was in attack mode alright, just looking for trouble!
That cat knows what to do and the dog got a helluva fright! :D The kid would have been in serious trouble without him though. And yes I have shot better dogs than that for less!

Good cat!
We had a dog that was attacked by our neighbours dog, the neighbours dog jumped over a 6 foot fence to get into our garden. By the time we'd got out into the garden three of our cats we're trying to help our dog out. They're often accused of being disloyal but I think cats know what side their bread is buttered on!

Dog must die, no ifs or buts, also the owner must be held responsible, what was it doing at large? Chances are the child may have died without the cat. The cat's interruption got the dog out of kill mode and it looks like it realized what it did and took off. The tail wagging's common, often pitbills wag their tails franticly in battle, meanwhile trying to kill their opponent.

Apparently the dog escaped from the neighbours. It was taken by animal control to be euthanised. Also reportedly only 8 months of age. Quite worrying for a dog that young to be that aggressive - often they're still in puppy mode.

Years ago I remember my parents cat, who had kittens at the time, latch onto the Nose of a German Shepherd foolish enough to wander into the front yard, drawing blood and chasing it off.

Prescription for dog - lead pill.
Prescription for owner - ban from owning dogs.

I've heard the boy is autistic and the cat was part of his family and had appointed itself to look after him.
I thought when I saw the video and the cat returned to the boy, that it was part of the family.:)

I saw exactly the same thing forty-five years ago at the pub in Blackwater, except it was Blue Heeler. And it was a weedy little cat, but it had kittens in the back of the pub, and there was this bloke used to spend most of every day in the pub, with his dog chained on the back of his ute out the front - one day it slipped its collar and went exploring.

What breed, or part thereof, would you say that dog was? (Insert eye roll emoticon).

I don't reckon it matters. To stalk a kid like that then pounce on him like it did, lucky that supermoggy was around to save the day.

Apparently the cat adopted the family it walked home from a park with them . The wife was allergic to cats but they kept it. When the kid was born they kept on finding it asleep in the cot with the boy. Some animals are way better than humans.

When I saw it on the news last night, the American lady (as it happened in California) said Labrador, BUT no way, we've had Labs and not only do they look nothing like that, I've never EVER heard of one do anything wrong, they're chosen as guide dogs and hearing dogs FFS. Clearly poorly researched journalism...again.
I believe it was a pit bull / Rhodesian ridgeback or similar bastardisation. But it doesn't matter, should be destroyed and owner prosecuted (at least).

The video's been taken down due to a copyright claim. Apparently there's got to be some money in it for someone, rather than an entertaining/interesting bit of footage.

I think it has had enough airtime, the vast majority of people have seen it, so I don't know what they are claiming copyright for!!!

She will be off work for another two months, there are also broken bones in her ankle and the plaster cast she has to wear will be removed next week then she will have to wear a special "boot" for a few weeks.
The dog a pit bull cross breed has been put down.

We owned a cat like that many years ago.
I was sitting on the front veranda of our house, with my little boy, and this dog appeared in the drive. Our cat was sitting with us, but as soon as he saw the dog, he was growling & he went after it,...the dog made a very quick departure.

We had a cat when I was a kid that the old man saw sitting in front of the built in BBQ hissing at it.
When he went to see what the cat was goin off at, he saw a snake coiled up underneath the bottom slab, you would never have known it was there otherwise.
So out with the 22 and multiple entry exit holes in snake. This was in mid 70's when people didn't have an irrational fear of firearms, couldn't get away with that now, so may as well use the shottie and leave no doubt :D
Oh yeah, back to the cat, dad didn't like the cat before that, but he gave it a pat on the head and a can of whiskas for its troubles.
Brother and I were toddlers at the time, so you could say the snake was a threat. ;)
