First time in the dark with 2007 RRS , found that the low beam headlights are crap , is this normal or is it just mine . High beams seen ok just the low beams have no penetration . Thanks

Yep - the low beam cut-off is crap - same if you have halogens or HIDS.

It looks like they just stop at a point somewhere in front and that's it , like someone drew a line across .

My D3 with bi-xenons has one brand new headlamp, and one original. There is a massive difference in output between the new and old, the old one's output looks almost grey compared to the pure white output of the new.

Hunting around on Disco3, it seems that the xenon bulbs degrade over time (and seemingly that's where mine is) and as yours is the same vintage as mine, I thought it worth the question.

It looks like they just stop at a point somewhere in front and that's it , like someone drew a line across .If you're referring to the cut-off then make sure the lights are adjusted up sufficiently. I don't recall the distance ahead low beam is meant to illuminate (according to ADRs) but often the lights are adjusted way too low.

Yep - all xenon globes will eventually degrade. I have had a set of Hella Predators for years (fitted to a number of different vehicles). A while back, the light output from them went quite "yellow" and nowhere near what they used to be. I enquired into the price of a new set from Hella and nearly choked when I was told the price. Ended up replacing them with a set of X-Ray vision lights - which are pretty good, but not as good as the Hellas were.

Have since scored a set of new Hella globes for nothing (through work) - so will eventually fit them and re-install the Predators on the D4.

I would imagine that low beam globes, as they are in use far more frequently than hi beam or spotties, will not last as long as the globes in the Predators did.

The Bi-Xenons only run one globe for both Hi and Low beam so are on all the time lights are on - quality of light certainly does fade over time.

Yes - I fitted a similar set-up in the D2 headlights. Same globe for both hi & lo beam. In that case, the globe "moves" in & out rather than having a moving shutter like the D4 has.

So far, the globes in the D2 are still as bright as the day I installed them (touch wood). The D2 also has a set of Hellas on it, but they're Rallye 4000's with after-market Chinese HID globes in them and external ballasts - a lot cheaper than buying another set of Predators, and pretty much the same output / performance. :D
