Yea so i sold the defender for a d3 which seemed like a good idea. i test drove it the car had a few problems which the dealer sorted out before i took it. But soon after taking it i started have problems, the car kept going into limp mode.

Its under warranty so i took it back the dealer said it was a abs sensor but all is good. I drove it for another week same problem so i took it straight back and this time he said it the head gasket is on it way out and its giving a low coolant pressure reading which he said is stuffing the rest of the car up. Which he said he would replace so no worries that was 3 weeks ago every time i call him he make up bloody excuses like it will be tomorrow.

So my feeling is that there is something else wrong with the car which they cant fix or they have lost it.

What to do? Could it just be just the head gasket? And does it take 3 weeks to replace one?

More detail required to assist. What is the vehicle detail, and is the dealer an authorised LR dealer ?

Unless the price you got was extraordinary.. I'd suggest its time to suggest a Refund and walk away...

Sorry to hear this Flaps, could be that they need (internal) approval from the dealer head to pay for the work - i.e. warranty work. That or they are getting quotes from other garages to do the work. Still annoying though as a bit of communication would be nice right?

Good luck with it. My D3 has had a few issues with it since I have had it (less than two months), but it still such an awesome car. I figure you are going to get issues from any second hand car, regardless of make, and probably more so from a 4wd, so I expected it wouldn't exactly be smooth sailing. Frustrating when the chain is dragged though, especially under warranty.

Iv look into a refund but in wa there is no such thing once u sign it urs. So what happens is when im driving along all of a sudden all the warning lights on the dash will come on and the car will lower the air bags so its sitting on it ass and wont give u any power. Even if u try setting it normal height it just wont let u. But if u pull over leave it for a few hours then go again it will be ok.

i have nanocom buts its in the car at the moment otherwise i would post the faults. The faults that come up are mostly lost communication faults or low voltage. There are 27 of these.

Yea i dont think the dealer really needs to tell me anything by law but it would be nice to be kept in the loop since its my car. And cause there is no receipt u really dont know what they have done if anything.

To get you going, I would try a full system reboot.

Turn off car, engage brand brake, pop bonnet, close doors, and wait for the hand brake signal to go off. Then remove battery cables (negative first) then touch battery cables together using a metal rod (big screen driver, wrench, etc)...not the battery terminals. Positive back, then negative.....and see how she goes.

Would then be a good idea to remove the main suspension fuse (yellow one next to the battery....read display on fuse box cover) once she is up, so that it won't drop again.

Low battery, brake lights, brake switch.... Could be a number things.

Then get her checked out.

I agree. May be as simple as the battery.

Mine gave me numerous errors just after I bought it. New battery and no problems.

I think the batteries die due to lack of use on the dealer forecourt.

U would have thought the dealer would have check that but if he wants to replace the head gasket then a new battery he can go for it.

Gasket?
Battery. Best bet.

My used purchased was lighting up the dash and new batt fixed all.

Get batt properly load tested at Indy auto elec, costs nothin.
