Puma Ex Box

Going to take a deep breath and instal my Mulgo Ex box in my puma MY13 130 tommorow

I have already fitted the box under cubby and have been useing it empty....nice height.

I have a question that someone may be able to answer, my 130 has the wireing and plug for a subwoofer but it is not there:mad: maybe not an option on the 130. SWMBOs 90 has the exact same plug and its connected to her subwoofer (removed her cubby box to check)
I would like at sometime to buy an Alpine subwoofer for my 130 so I guess I should get this plug thru one of the Ex box grommets has any one done this. wireing comes up thru the transmision tunnel.

Also I read in a similar thread heat proofing should be done under Ex box I kept the floor covering I cut out to fit the box and will try and reinstall this under the box I will have to replace the hold down bolts somehow as they will be to short:mad:

Any advice or thoughts on this job would be appreciated

I have a 2012 D90. It didn't have the wiring for sub, but I fitted a Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth and fitted a self powered sub to rear of Cubby box. I fitted power supply through the back of X Box. I fitted the Pioneer sub upside down so the leads are at the bottom. I also fitted a UHF on the left side of X Box next to drivers seat. Power supply and antenna come up through the X Box. I run my extra fuel tank pumps off the fuse box in the X Box as well.

I fitted the exbox to my MY13 110. the 110 came with the alpine subwoofer. I enlarged to hole in the base (not sure of the reason at the time) and I cut a hole in the exbox lid to allow the plug to pass through in the shortest distance. It was a still a bit of a stetch on the wiring when the exbox is opened with the cubby box mounted on top. if the box is allowed to flip all the way into the rear, the wiring could depart! So each time I open the exbox, I have to support it in the rear. From under the vehicle, I took as much slack out of the subwoofer loom as I could and it allowed it to just reach. If I were you, I'd ease as much slack as I can out of the loom and when the time comes, drill the hole in the exbox lid below where the loom comes out of the subwoofer to allow connection.

Ian you didn't move fuses etc over from beneath seat...any reason why not I'm trying to creat space there....does it effect warranty?/

Bit late to reply, but nevertheless - I pondered relocating fuses from under seat on drivers side and also considered adding aux battery under seat on passengers side.

saw no point at all in moving fuses - some have said it raises them a little higher to protect from water - but i think if i went that deep, i'd use a boat. And, relocating just invites problems and excuses in regard to warranty.

After all I put the exbox in to put my extras in it = aux fuse box, secure storage and battery relay.

In regard to passengers side, to put extra battery, I would have had to find a new home for the jack etc. So I left it all untouched and decided to have an aux battery I could shift around and removed from the wagon.

No need for new holes / routing the sub cable. Just run it out under the exbox floor on the passenger side, and the 110 has a nice divot in the flooring to make this easier.

If you unscrew the factory sub there is extra cable in there you can pull out to save stretching the harness side.

For me it was worth the wait. The extra space is great to have, and another benefit is the cubby is at a better height for an arm rest.

I have a TD5, and it was super easy to install; particularly with the holes drilled and rivnuts in place already.

Once your warranty is up; I'd highly recommend getting one.

Same, fitted at 10 months, was never even mentioned during warranty repairs.

And after 15cm of water on drivers and passengers front floor after crossing Nolan's Brooke.....I was glad I had it !

I fitted my x box very early during the warranty period. Shortly after trip 1.

The other thing to consider is that if you exceed the factory wading height of 500mm you void your warranty.

As far as I an concerned the extra height to your electrics (fuses and ABS unit) from an x box and a snorkel on a common rail diesel engine can only be a possitive.

I keep spares and recovery gear under the seat.

Same here. Fitted within about 6 months of purchase if I recall correctly. Never mentioned by the dealer.

I have my compressor and an amp fitted under my seat now.
