Move songs from ipod to itunes

I had a hard drive fail a few months ago and after getting things back to near normal I have found that I have more music on the ipod than in the itunes library.

How do I get the songs (approx 800) from the ipod back into itunes?

I can't use "sync" as that will delete any songs off the ipod that are not in itunes.

I tried to manually add the songs on the ipod to itunes using the "add to" icon in the right corner and this did nothing, maybe I did it wrong?:confused:

Any help would be greatly appreciated
