Hi there,

I'm pretty new here.

I was recently back visiting my home town and saw this sitting out the front of a house around the corner from where i grew up. My cousin tells me it's been sitting there for >15 years.

I initially thought it was a volvo tgb 6x6 (yes it has 6 wheels). But, looking at the photo later, realised it looked more landrover-ish.

I know it's not a lot to go on, but is someone able to steer me in the right direction.

It looks a bit like the 101, hence posting it here. But from what i can gather the 6x6's are super rare, and all the photos i have seen - there is an ugly gap between the 2 rear axles. This vehicle doesn't have that gap but still looks like a factory 6x6.

It does have the stance of a 101 and does have a similar shape under the cover but the bumper and front lights are not 101 but could have been put on. The head lights in the front sheet metal would not work in a 101 as the pedals are in the way.

There were no oem 6x6 101s - a few modified later after they were demobbed but as far as I am aware none in Aust.

It could be a Volvo.

Pretty sure it's not a Volvo TGB (C303). Front bumper and grill are all wrong, as is the side panel to the front wheel.

No idea on what it might be either... series 11A FC, OKA??

Is it still there? Perhaps you could go a knock on their door and ask?

Any other pics?

Ian.

Yes, Pinzgauer. The bumper is identical to this one:

Thankyou all for your replies.

Didn't remember the pinz's had the flat front. I only remembered the ones that jutted out like the one below.

Was'nt sure of what i had stumbled accross when i spotted it sitting there.

I'm a huge fan of the volvo tgb 6x6's, and slammed the brakes on and reversed up the road when i saw the three axles. But curiosity got the better of me and i had to know what it was, once i realised it wasn't a volvo.

Thanks again

Lightning.

Yep. In hindsight that was pretty obvious...

It's a 712 Pinzgauer (air-cooled petrol motor) .......they were built between the early 70's and the mid 80's.
The orange one in your other photo is a later 718 (diesel, generally auto, disc brakes etc).....they were built between 85 and 2007.....to be more accurate, it a P93, 718 :)
I'd be interested to hear more about the vehicle and if it's in Aus, I probably have records on it (I'm a Pinzgauer fanatic :D)....feel free to drop me a message.

You'll find more info on Pinzgauers and Haflingers on my website:
