Wiper Motor Removal?

1969 2A. Wiper switch faulty so replaced with genuine item from a wreck. Still no wipers but voltage to the motor now so.........removed wiper motor casing, muddy water pooled in the bottom, bugger! I have another motor on a wreck that should be ok but how to disconnect the assembly from the drive cable coming in from the top??
Cant find it in the manual or the forum and don't want to break anything so here I am!!
Advice appreciated...........


Point of interest, I needed 2 switches, wipers and panel lights. I have a 2a ex military wreck but the switches were solid. Hasn't run in 10 years or more, Pulled em out, spray liberally with Inox, blow out, move a little, repeat process a few times, switches work, TaaaDaaa, I love Landrovers!!

I think you have to take the cover off the wiper motor gearbox - is that the cover you have removed?

Yes John, I took that one off first thinking I would be able to separate the drive rod from the assembly. Then I took the casing off the actual motor and found it 1/3 full of rusty water.
I have obviously undone the nut securing the drive rod to the top of the gear section. I then undid the 2 screws at the top of the assembly that seemed to clamp the tube at the point of entry.

Pulled one to bits yesterday. When you remove the cover, you will see a connecting rod linking the end of the cable to the worm wheel. It is attached to the pin on the worm wheel by a circlip. Remove this circlip (careful, don't lose it or the washers) and lift the arm out; it just lifts out of the end fitting of the cable, which then lifts out.
