D3 random alarm

I have a 2008 D3 and lately the alarm has been going off randomly while it is parked in my driveway. I unlock and re-lock the car and then sometimes it will clear and not go off for days and other times it will go off again in 5-10 minutes and takes several attempts to get it to 'go away'.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This will typically be caused by an issue with the bonnet switch. Have a read through these:

I replaced the bonnet switch and so far, so good.

Had the same problem with my 2005 D3, but there was always a little message saying bonnet open. Of course the bonnet wasn't open and a new switch fixed the problem. Terribly frustrating though. I got the new switch from the UK.

Ditto, I sourced my bonnet switch from the local dealer at a reasonable price.
Maybe its a 2008 build thing.....

My 2010 D4 did the same thing. Sounds like the bonnet switch. I didn't replace the switch which will only get dirty again in the future and fail again IMO, instead, I used a paper clip to short circuit the plug then wrapped it with gaffer tape. Has worked perfectly.
