Firstly i am sorry if this has been answered before, i looked thru the past threads and could not see a similar thread.
I am wanting to put 33" tyres ( 285/75r16) on my 110 and was just seeing if this is possible without hitting anywhere in the wheel arch
I am looking at getting the Dynamic rims 16x7 or 16x8 ( not sure but i think i will need a an offset?) also to fit them on
I am not wanting to get a lift done and was just wanted to check if anyone has done something similar.
Thank you
Adam

Have a read of this. It should help you out.

Most manufacturers of 285/75R16 tyres will nominate a minimal rim width. I think that ball park is 7.5" which means you should buy 8" wide rims. The tyres will physically fit on 7" rims. I know people who are happy to do this. If thats the way you want to go, you will have to find a tyre fitter willing to do it if it is outside the tyre manufacturer guidelines.
Personally, I'd go with the 8" rims.
Zero offset will fit this size tyre under your original flares. Depending on your vehicle, the inside of the tyres may rub on the suspension components.
-25mm offset will space everything out nicely so you avoid rubbing on the inside of the tyre. They will protrude past your standard width flare. As for contact with the bodywork I cannot comment. My 3" lifted 110 trayback never rubbed at either end with zero offset rims.
My standard height but low km (I.e not very worn or sagged) 130 puma has not yet rubbed with -25 offset rims. Both 285/75R16s.
Hope it helps.

PTC and Cammo thanks for your reply
Looks like the 16x8 rims with -25mm offset are the go
I only plan on putting these on for off-road trips (have a standard alloy rim with road tyres) do you think I can get away without getting wider flares.

I'm not sure too what the stock flares are like on the 110. But on the 130. Any increase in width of the tyre or spacing it out further with the offset. And i will require new flares to keep the tyres under the car.

I have 255/85 r16 on zero offset with spacers and they are just inside the flares, 285/85's with -25 mm wheels will be roughly 40 mm outside the flares. You will have the option with those wheels to go 315/75(34.6in) if you do a 2-3in lift. As your only going 33in they shouldn't touch the body you could always get some of the cheaper rubber flares to replace your originals. If you where doing 35's they can touch the guards so different setup needed like flatdog or terrafirma arches.

285/75x16 on 8" "0" off set rims will protrude past stock flares by 25mm.
FlatDogs are much better quality then the TF's. Both the TF's and FlatDogs are 50mm wider than stock.
Without the wider flares you spray crap all over the side of the vehicle.

Thanks for correcting me Grant
I had forgotten entirely about the scrub rails on the 110 which the tyres did not protrude past, and being a trayback they didnt stick out past the tray either so I never gained any unwanted attention from Mr Plod.
Apologies for the incorrect info given above.
As for would you get away with it? Thats entirely up to you and the risks you're willing to take. I did it for a while, until my extended flares arrived. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one if you chose to. For a modification that looks the goods I'd rather just buy the extended flares and avoid the defect sticker.
Drover is correct again in saying the Flatdogs are higher quality than the terrafirmas. If I had my time over, I'd buy Flatdogs straight up instead of the TFs.

Sorry to start this up again but I already have a set of disco 1 steel rims 16x7 and will stick with those for now
Can anyone tell me what is the largest tyre size I can go both width and diameter with any rubbing on full lock and also keeping them inside the factory flares.
Thank you

G'day Photodude,
Re: your Disco 1 rims, as far as I can remember the rims are a +33 offset.
Your issue will probably not be steering lock related with wider tyres as the steering stops can be adjusted to stop the tyres rubbing on the radius arms, the problem may end up being with wider tyres hitting and rubbing on the spring perches under suspension cycling.
Regards,
Mike.

i second Mike's comments. Stepping up from 235/85 to 255/85 will cause rubbing on the rear spring perch with the disco 1 rims. Options are spacers (ignoring legalities) or an after market zero offset rim.

What about a 265/75r16 with the disco 1 steel rim? That will be the same diameter but just bit wider. Will that work?

265/75 will fit the 7" rim but like the 255/85 rubber it will likely rub the spring perch at full articulation. MLD

Another punctured BFG AT tyre - that's both spares now that have given up the ghost and the chunks coming off have been bad. Considering another brand/ model. Considering muddies too given I've just moved closer to the Watagans and all that lovely clay!
I have 16 x 7 rims with a zero offset. Currently running 265/75 ATs
No scrubbing.....well, a tiny bit on the 45l aux fuel tank when I'm articulated appropriately but not under normal circumstances.
Considering 255/85/16 muddies on the same wheels. Will they fit without scrubbing?

you should be Ok, subject to this qualification. If you have modified shock mounts i.e. Gwen Lewis or TF that are designed for long travel shocks you move the point of the end of the radius of the axle to allow for extra wheel travel and you may have contact with the rear upper coil mount. The coil firmness will also affect if you rub. With my old coils (firmer) they wouldn't compress enough to allow rubbing. My current softer coils compress and fall over under compression so the tyre rubs the mount.
On my old 110 with 255/85 and zero offset with factory shock mounts i had a polish at the extreme of articulation.
Bobby you carry a fair bit of weight and if you still have the factory set up you might rub. Not by much, a polish. Most times you are at full articulation you are travelling less than 2 or 3 kms p/h and contact is not for long. That said it's best to avoid it if possible.
Shame about your BFG's. Onto my 3rd set of KM2's and haven't had a flat or tyre failure to date, touch wood.

Hi ,I fitted 265x75 16 ,on disco steel rims . On my 110 They rubbed the top of the spring hanger on the rear when articulated , which means they also rub the inside of the tyre . That's not good and I've been told un roadworthy . I changed the rims , to 20mm offset , they just come inside the guards ! anything larger will stick out , so you will near larger flares !!..Jim
