View Full Version : AIRBAG FAULT - CAN IT BE CLEARED WITHOUT TESTBOOK?

The second time now that I have copped a false AIRBAG FAULT, both caused by a bad battery terminal.
It also caused an intermittent Headlight problem with low voltage to the BeCM.
Is there any way to clear the dash message and the flashing RED SRS light without the $88.00 fee?
God I hope there is!

Cheers,
Shirley..

On a couple of occasions I have had SRS errors which caused the light to illuminate constantly, not flash. Once it was the plug under the front seat another time a plug close to the steering column under the binnacle. Both times the light went out after the connection was made good, never needed a reset.
The plugs are all easy to spot as the wiring for SRS is all bright yellow

Hi Wayne,
Tried that because the transmission indicator wasn't flashing and the dash light SRS went constant after a while but it still wouldn't clear the message.
Apparently that's what happens if the ignition is on when the voltage drops out.
I have to buy some sort of diagnostic but can't afford the five grand that the dealers want for TestBook.
Cheers,
Shirley.

No, it can't.

However, if you are ever in Penrith, I'll do it for you at no charge. I have Testbook.

Hi

If you have a Motronic beastie, I have a nanocom evolution which will reset that error and I am in Gosford.

Won't work with GEMS though :(

Looking at a Motronic last night, must have read your mind.
Many thanks for the offer. Penrith is somewhere I have not been for over 40 years...
I'm at Wyee, about 80K south of Newcastle.
About the same cost in fuel as a code clearance at Wyong, English Auto Spares.

Cheers Shirley :O)
