Looks like that people like the high performance of the HSV GTS but regulations stopping it to be exported in profitable quantities.
The article said, quote: It managed to outscore other sledgehammer offerings including the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S, the BMW M5 with competition pack, the Audi RS6 Avant and the British-born Jaguar XFR-S by a panel of journalists.end of quote
Whit it is very impressive.

Australia's fastest Holden grounded under prohibitive laws (http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/australias-fastest-holden-grounded-under-prohibitive-laws-20140508-37x0q.html?utm_source=outbrain&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=outbrain_amplify)

Hmmm,
The line in the Article that reads....
"The GTS lost points namely for it's fuel consumption".
Um, yeah, kinda stating the Obvious. It aint a Diesel.

I remember a Top Gear episode a few years back. They "tested" the (then) new Monaro.
They too, were very Impressed with it. With comparisons to the AMG's and Beemers of the time. Saying it was excellent bang for your buck.

When I worked at GM-H, the company did a lot of exporting. We sent a couple of Statesmen and GTS350's to Vauxhall and Opel for company cars and for some press exposure. The execs at these divisions loved them and more were ordered. They reckoned there was nothing that good or fast available from Europe until you got up into the exotic luxury car price brackets. British and German journos were gobsmacked by the performance of the GTS350's and stunned by the price. German journos also had a thing for big block Corvettes. Meanest fastest critter on the autobahns and a third of the price of Euro exotica.

I had a friend from France visit about 10 years ago and a VZ Monaro stopped him in his tracks. It was a nice looking car for sure.

Too bad there is no Pontiac anymore. The G8 and GTO badged Holdens were some of the nicest cars to grace any GM showrooms. The ute version would have made a bump on the sales chart in my opinion.
