Visited a pair of Black Bettys grandchildren, she threw a black and a white:):):):):):):)
I had seen a Black D4 advertised on carsales, seeing I was passing I called in.
I now know I WANT a D4,I WANT a HSE and I want a Black or White one,preferably white:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
Looked at these pair.
2010 Land Rover Discovery 4 MY10 3.0 SDV6 HSE 6 Speed (http://www.westsideauto.com.au/car-details?CAR_ID=6795)

2011 Land Rover Discovery 4 MY12 3.0 SDV6 HSE 6 Speed (http://www.westsideauto.com.au/car-details?CAR_ID=6771)

I wont be purchasing either, was just tyre kicking at the moment. However,Black Betty doesnt know it she is now up for sale, getting cleaned up on the weekend and put on the market. We have 3 vehicles and only 1 driver at the moment seeing Deb cant drive until some sort of normality resumes after her brain bleed. The proceeds will go to the future purchase of a D4:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Didn't they tell you - tired kicking is how it starts Andy ;)

For me a D4 was a thought..something I'd like. About 6-8 weeks ago I drove one...:eek::eek:...haven't things come a long way in 9 years

I pick mine up in the next week...

It seems going from D2 to D4 is what all the cool kids are doing :p

But as Tombie says....I wont forget my D2, it's been a great car...still is!

Hi Andy.
Our D2a is 11 years old, we have owned it from new. I use it every day as my work runabout, still does everything I ask of it. Only thing I could want would be some more HP when towing the boat. I looked at D4s a while ago, very nice cars but a lot of money when I have a car that does most things now. My main reason for looking is so I know what is around if the D2 does disgrace itself at any point.

The D2 will be taking us to the Kimberley in 4 weeks, we'll soon know if its age will be a factor...

Some nice cars you have linked there. Dream on :-)

Cheers,

Ferret

I thought the same about my D2. My D4 is better. Enjoy it when you get it.

Hey Andrew - you should do the same as I did. Keep the D2 in the family - convince Lindsay that it is the right vehicle for him. :D

I still get to drive my old D2 occasionally - when Shaun lets me. ;)

He won't let me drive the RX7 though .............. :o

I took a test drive in a 2012 Puma then a 2010 D4 HSE 3.0. Driving the D4 3.0 was a big mistake. I'm definitely not getting in a SDV6.

don't drive the 8 speed whatever you do - then all will be lost

I think the main mistake is driving anything other than the D2, for all it's "charms" it was a little noisy and a bit cramped fora long legged fellow. One (very, very short) drive in my mate's D3 a while ago sowed the seed and it was only a matter of time after that, the D2 days were numbered....

I like the white one ! White has served me well over the years - does not show the damage as much as dark colours although the beaters over the years say that White is hard to match.

I can't help but comment that d4 cup holders look a retrograde step over d3. But I suppose they had to change something !!

Good luck and happy hunting !

Ps ... What about a v8 ?!? Take one of those for a spin and you'll smile for a year !

The only thing that scares me about a V8 is the fuel consumption. Our Ford Territory Turbo loves the stuff and from figures a member gave me his D3 HSE V8 returns similar figures, not bad considering the size difference.Just had the Territory up the city,22.2L/100km in the city, using 100RON PULP,moderate to gentle use of the throttle(EASY WHEN YOU START THINKING SPEEDING FINE;););)) The trip home on a top up of 98PULP a more likeable 12.2L/100km.

My D3 v8 uses around 16-17 town cycle, 10-11 highway and 14.5 towing. My 10000km average is (measured) at 13.5. It's worth it just for the sound :)

Mines roughly in line with Epic's consumption, no towing for me though and a bit more urban driving than I'd like at the moment!

When you consider the price differential and the fact that the V8 is regarded as easier on the wallet from a servicing perspective you have to be doing a lot of KM's to justify the additional money for a diesel...

Both cars are very nice and would be lovely to own and drive BUT...
They both have stupid big BLING wheels with rubber band tyres !!!
Where can you go on that sort of stuff ?
Unless they now make suitable off road tyres ?
I personally would never consider anything that I couldn't take into the rough on a long trip.
I hate BLING.

Nice but.

PS: To the above.
Unless of course you can at least replace the BLING with at least 17" wheels ?

Nice but.

The one thing in my opinion that the D2 is superior to either the D3 or 4 in is the D2's front captain chairs.

Have you tried the D4 HSE captian chairs ??

Yes I have tried the D4 HSE captain chairs, a number of times. They are much better than the D3's but in my opinion still not as good as the D2a HSE's captain seats.
Its not just the shape of the seat itself but the seating position in comparison to the rest of the vehicle.

Still each to their own.

Well here is something I would have bet on and lost.
No wonder the Terror Tory uses the fuel when pushed. Was looking at the licence renewal today, did you know a D2 weighs LESS than a Territory AWD????? D2 tare is 2065KG,Territory 2092Kg:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
What is the tare on the D3/D4s????

My D4 has a big phone number on the side "08 WEALTHCR 8".....clients are often tooting my wife when she is out and about towing, with a similar livery, our 7.5 m triple axle horse float.

Got a few W4 stickers on the car....they cover the dents and scratches ;-)
