I have a version just for D2's that has a .exe system for windows (it actually installs and needs to be exe to run). All other versions (OSX & Linux) run the same indexes of pdf's (from the whole program that have been separated) and there's a standalone pdf titled "MAC & Linux users START.pdf." This opens a title page which you click that opens the bookmarks bar at the side to direct you around the files.
I have it on my phone, just using adobe reader to view as the stock readers can't handle it. Looking at the folders, it's the same structure as on the mac and I'm also running it in Linux and it will also run through my Sun server.
I also have the full version but it's a nightmare to run, very slow as it's bloated out the pdf's are much larger and not built in the same way the D2 version is structured) and making it work on Mac is not possible as for some reason the pdf's won't open just link to adobe to download reader which when you try to install says it's already installed which it is). Works ok on windows and linux with adobe but nothing with other readers.
i've seen other model specific versions, they all seem to originate from Italy as here are extra pdf's in there that are language specific, always Italian.
