I'm very new to LR ownership, having just bought a '68 S2A SWB.
I need to get parts to do some repairs, but don't know yet who to buy from, and I don't have a parts list yet.
Does there exist a parts interchangeability list?
To start with, I need a gasket for the junction of the exhaust manifold to the pipe. Anyone in Oz sell these for 2A?
Would one from another model fit?

Gasket for the manifold to pipe joint in a SWB? Im assuming it's a diesel, then. It's th same gasket that joins the pipe to the muffler box, and the same gasket from manifold to the pipe on a Series 1 2L. The six-cylinder manifold-to-pipe gasket is different, though.

If it's a petrol 2.25, it shouldn't need one as the flange is built onto the pipe. I have had the flange actually rusted away where it joins the manifold, though, and in that case I've used the packing for a Holden Red motor. There are a couple of different sizes available so take an ID measurement, and (just from personal experience) use the steel version rather than the fibre one.

I've bought stuff out of Four Wheel Drives in Mellbourne and British Off Road on the Sunshine Coast for Series Landies with no real problems, though some rarer bits have now been discontinued. I've also heard of a company called CLR somewhere in NSW that apparently specialise in Series stuff but when I called they weren't contactable (hopefully that's changed!). Don't be afraid of ordering from any of the UK specialists at the moment, either as the exchange rate is still quite favourable and their ranges are quite extensive compared to some Aussie dealers.

OK, thanks. It's a petrol engine so no gasket - that's good to know, and explains why I couldn't find one online.
I'll remove the pipe and see what's up.

I looked at the joint today. It looks like the pipe's shaped end has had some trauma.
Does someone sell the ends only, to be welded onto an otherwise good pipe?

Try Roverparts.com.au, they will have most of the parts you need.

I've had good dealings with all four X 4

All four x 4, Land Vehicle Spares, Four Wheel Drives are a few.

I have not seen the pipe end as a serparate part, but then I have not looked for one - if I had, I would probably just make it; a simple turning job.

Thanks for the references, fellas. Seems there's a good choice of suppliers.

Turning up the tapered pipe end is an interesting idea. The complete front pipe isn't so expensive though, and I'm not a speedy machinist.

I'm picking up a wreck S3 for spares tomorrow, will see if it has a good pipe.
