Hi All,

Around October last year I bought a Wanderer camping shower set-up. Used it on one trip and now it doesn't work.

Of course, I can't find the receipt ....

I pulled it apart and everything works fine except the on/off switch, borne out by the trusty old insulated screw-driver across the switch terminal trick.

I'm not going to go into cheap imported rubbish arguments ... It's pretty hard to find anything else these days :-( ... I just want to fix it.

If I can find a waterproof switch assembly, I can cut and solder the new one in. I looked at some on the internet but were located OS.

Anybody seen these for sale in Oz.

Obviously I'll start looking at Dick Smith, etc.

Cheers,

Kev.

Google Whitworths.
They should have a marine switch.

Hi,
I have seen a mercury switch used on a sea kayak for waterproof switching of the bilge pump.
Tilt it one way for on, the other way for off.
cheers

Dick Smith are useless for this sort of stuff nowadays, as they ditched all the electronics stuff and turned into just another consumer electronics store.

Jaycar has some that might suit: Jaycar Electronics - Search Results for waterproof switch (http://search.jaycar.com.au/search?w=waterproof%20switch&view=list)

Whitworths should have something they are at Breakfast creek and woolangabba in Brisbane. Bias Boats might also be able to help they are on sandgate road in Geebung, and from memory somewhere down south near springwood.

I have had one of these, which I bought from Paddy Palin

Had it for a few trips now and is great. but not cheap either.

Thanks Guys,

I drove past a Jaycar shop today and bought a switch in there. It's not as 'pretty' as the original inline switch but it's marine, waterproof and will do the job.

Cheers,

Kev.

As expected, after me getting loose with some aircraft wiring sealed crimps, heatshrink and a liberal overhaul with a glue gun ... It's ugly but will more than do the job.

Thanks for all input.

You don't actually need the receipt, but do need proof of purchase. A credit card account would suffice.

X2 Dick Smith are now useless. I worked in the Tech department for two years just before they stopped selling all the small components. They then turned it into a standard boring TV, music & computers and are now going down the toilet.

Thanks Don,

Already tried that and my general bank records cause I remember the exact period that I purchased the pump. In my running around just before a big trip, last minute purchase, etc I must have used cash, since I can't find any record.

My 'Improvements' will work better anyway :-).
