Anyone experienced it while welding? I did, today while under a 130 , structural MIG welding so I couldn't just stop the run. I have a nice little hole in my forearm/ wrist. :-(

At least cauterising prevents bleeding and infection.:-P

May times! In the shoes is the best when you can smell it burning and can't shake it off.

Funniest I saw was working on a blast furnace. Liquid iron pools in the iron well before going down a runner into a ladle, we used to push 20 foot long branches into the iron to break up any slag on top, this would cause the water in the timber to pop, in a very violent way, spraying liquid iron and slag everywhere. This is fine when the timber is fresh, but each time you use it it gets shorter, so one bloke being a bit tired used a very short lump, the iron sprayed all over him, he had on all his gear, but a bit managed to get down his pants, instead of dropping his pants there, he danced like a headless chook out of view of the camera then dropped them:eek: we asked him why and he said " he didn't want the girls in the control room to see him naked! :D

Bugger! How bad?:( It's not the cauterising , it's the blistering that may need attention to prevent infection...

I've had many little ones on my arms, but the worst one was in my boot, melted through my sock and into the side of my foot.........that one really hurt.

I met a guy who had a weld spit ball in his ear.........he said he heard it sizzling through his ear drum

Cheers, Murray

Looking at it this morning, was able to dig out the 'spec' of molten steel, looks like a nice little crater now. Thankfully no sign of inflamation above normal amounts....

Had the ear, boot, neck and even face molten drops in the past too, all of them uniquely painful in their own special way....

Makes you feel awake....:p

Don't light the oxy with matches and then put the box in your top shirt pocket,I only did that once.

There a reason we wore leather spats, apron, & long gloves. Took a bit to get used to, but worth it, Bob
