Back in 1969 , Vampire went alongside Spectacle island, something to do with the gunnery rates, so not the least bit interesting. A couple of us engineering types found an excuse to take a little walk ashore. We found an alladins cave, surely the largest display of naval history just about any where. It was, to say the least, fascinating. And, it has even got better. The pity of it all, it is not open to the public. Bob

There is a heritage centre at Garden Island, open to the public. Didn't know that. Bob
