Creaking Side Mirror

My side mirror creaks and shudders every-time I lock the car, and only on the driver side. Reported the issue at last service and so they sprayed it with lubricant. (Not exactly what I expected from a 800 buck oil change) Now, 2 weeks later the issue is back. It's minor I know but it's annoying. Does anyone else have this issue? Any advice on lubricant? MY12 SDV6 SE with 45 thou

Mine use to do it. Silicon spray in through the gaps and open and close a few times. Might have retreated once or twice but cant remember it happening for last couple of years now.

Both my mirrors on my HSE are the same! I'll give the silicone spray a crack tried inox but didn't seem to do much. Drives me mad haven't had time to take it to a dealer.

Also after/while lubricating it push it manually past the auto stop all the way fwd until it stops and the same the other way (past the auto stop) and do this about 30 times. Mine has not creaked for 6 months since doing this.

My dealer advised a similar thing. Ignition off first. Push the mirror as far forward as possible but put vaseline down into the gap that's exposed. Then pull it back as far as it can go. Repeat forward push as far as it can go and back push as far as it can go about 30 times. I've had the trouble twice and this fixed it both times. Just had it in for the 6 month first service/safety check and the service manager said the mirrors do require lubrication every once in a while. The other thing to try is press both mirror buttons down together. This folds the mirrors in and then repeat to return to position. I think this should be done after the lube job as well from memory to reset the mirrors.

Vaseline is a dirt and dust magnet. I am surprised that the dealer would recommend that. Now I can't decide......Has anyone had any other dealer recommendations?

I must admit the thought crossed my mind when I was told to use vaseline too. I suggested wd40 or graphite as alternatives but he was adamant vaseline was better. The hole you put the vaseline into is covered unless the mirror is pushed fully forward so maybe it won't be a serious issue. I suppose only time will tell and hopefully, if he's wrong, it dies before warranty runs out not after.

Mine did it from new.
Went away after a month or so.
Hasn't come back.....so far.
