Anyone going?
Got my tickets organized.

Would be great to organize a slow convoy down from Bne and/or meet up with the Vic folk on a day trip.

Might meet you down there.

I like the slow convoy idea.

Does it mean searching out all the dirt roads to Avalon and driving those?

I'll meet you there. Will be working there for about a month bumping in our gear, then hopefully not doing much during the event and enjoying the show.:)

I,m eying off Tom Groggin and the Omeo Hwy in Vic, not sure if you can head south of Tom Groggin?

NSW I don't really know, but lots of interesting Parks in NSW.

If a bad fire season, then a beach to beach run. I've very wary of bad fire days after Ash Wednesday. Once is enough.

I'm thinking 6-8 days from bne would be fairly easy run & time to see the sights.

I have said for the last 3 shows I should go, need to make it happen

An easy/medium day trip in our little patch is easy to accommodate.
Site seeing of old gold mines with tracks to play on inbetween.
We are only 30mins from Avalon so pick a Saturday or Sunday and I'll pencil it in the book.

If your looking for a driveway to camp in while your down sing out too.
Cheers, Kyle.

Bump.

All systems go - we started bumping in the first gensets today. 2 x 1000KVA and 3 x 1250KVA's - that's just to run the AC system for the main Expo Halls.:)

5 down, about 87 to go (plus 100 light towers....)

Come one, come all - I'm always up to meeting new members, I'll have very little else to do once the events started. :)

AndyG
21st January 2015, 08:25 PM

Maybe once it's built you can nominate a time and place for a coffee on the Saturday

It will have to be on site, as although there isn't much to do - if things are going well, I need to be there as I'm the Electrical Manager for our company during the event. If things go pear shaped while I'm at a coffee shop, I wouldn't be too popular back on site...:D

AndyG

I was thinking of an outlet on site, not off site, maybe the Airbus Champagne tent :D

Homestar
22nd January 2015, 05:42 PM
If you can get us all in there, not a problem...:D

Once I know where the catering outlets are going to be (they are a bit different this time) I'll let you know. I'll send my phone number to those attending so they can get hold of me once there.

I'll be the fat guy cruising around on golf cart looking important...:)

Hmmm, that sounds like most of the Marshals actually....:D

Back in 1990 I popped into the French Consulate in Vancouver for a Visa
The snotty Frenchie said, and why are you wanting to go to France

To inspect the 6 A300-600 Airbus we have on order :)

Suddenly I got a very nice Visa with no more questions :D

DO you get one of those cool Petrol powered golf buggies?

Time booked of work, will have to say G'day!

I think I might aim for the Friday this year.

It's actually a fully registered Diesel Bobcat Mule. Has a top speed of 40KPH. :)

Nice, that should be able to pick me and the family up from the car park so I don't have to walk 5km to get in. Hoping to get there this year.

Bump.

Well, it's all coming together quickly folks. Next Tuesday the trade days start and then into the public days where it gets insanely busy.

A C17 dropped in yesterday to offload some cargo for the ADF, then was on its was a couple of hours later. No other planes really here yet - they better get a move on... :D

For those heading out here and want to say hi, call me on 0417 385 926. If it goes to messagebank, leave you name - I may be busy or not able to hear it all the time.

Look forward to seeing you out here. :)

Cheers - Gavin.

Pity as I dont think there will be any landies in the ADF demos now :(:( With any luck might hopefully have some LRPVs.

I've been out there the last two days working on displays. The C17 was in the air with what looked like its rehearsal flight. WW1 German triplane was in the air as well.

You out there tomorrow? What area you working in? The main expo halls? I'll be there in the morning - out at the main gen farm behind the expo.

Well, another fun day - just got home. A few planes out and about today practicing, and it looks like a C17 snuck in when I wasn't watching as there's now one parked up in the keyhole. :)

Something large and propeller powered flew loudly over my house just after midnight last night.
Something on it's way to the show I guess.
I can't wait to see what it may have been.

Well, the trade days are on and it's a good time to look around and chat to people before the crowds arrive on Friday and the weekend.

A few teasers...

Made a bee line straight to my favourite aircraft - the C17. Still amazes me how big these things are inside. Enough to fit 3 x Blackhawks, or 6 armoured personnel carriers, or an Abrams tank - and support vehicles and crew.

It had one its engines opened up for all the world to see.

There are some cool little toys to play with...

When did the B52 fly?

When did the B52 fly?

I think it only flew the Friday. And it was a fly down from Guam, did two fly overs, and fly back the Guam. The one on the ground didn't fly during the airshow.

I would have loved to watch it go Monday morning, but had other commitments. I watched it fly in and land before the 2013 airshow, was amazing to see.

There's a post on jetspotters saying its the last time a B52 will fly at an airshow in the world, I find that hard to believe, but apparently due to age they are just getting to costly to keep in the air for non essential activity.

Homestar
3rd March 2015, 01:37 PM
Yep, a fly ovr on Friday arvo by the B-52. The display one left on Monday morning - I'm guessing the EPS can't touch these machines, because it is one dirty beast under decent throttle...:D

Only caught up with Mick while on site - no one else called me...:(

AndyG
4th March 2015, 12:13 PM
I made it down there for the Friday, a solid 12 hours and then 1.5 hours trying to get out of the car park. Well worth the visit, the B52 was awesome. And the F18 Dogfight.

Saturday i was buggered after all and the travelling that so had a day off.
