Anyone know where to find a car trailer to pick up a Disco from Toowoomba? Looking at the usual mobs, they have a maximum payload of 1200kg. Would like to get one tonight to bring it back to Redcliffe.

Reason being..
1999kg or less requires only overrun braking. Anything over requires breakaway braking systems.
Trailer likely weighs 799kg

Of course. FWIW, I have an electric brake controller, should I be able to find one.

Yep, only there weighed with spare, ramps, winch etc.... those big heavy duty chequer plate rental trailers weigh in at 1.2tons+
So they can by law only carry 800kgs unless fitted with 4wheel break away brakes.

Electric brakes and breakaway brakes are two different classifications. Regular electric brakes are for trailers between 750kg and 2000kg. Breakaway brakes are a separate requirement for trailers over 2000kg and can operate from a battery strapped to the drawbar. When the trailer breaks away a cable attached to the vehicle pulls out of a connector allowing the drawbar mounted battery to apply the electric brakes. They have to be able to hold on for a specified period before the battery runs out.
Personally I'd get a tilt tray tow truck to do it, no legal hassles and you don't have to do double mileage with the trailer to return it.

As Bee Utey says, get a price from a tilt tray. Pine Rivers Towing and Ready towing are worth playing off against each other on your side of town.
Have you got RACQ Ultimate? :whistling:

You could also pm the Hohars on here. I believe they do some car moving for people. Would be worth getting a quote from them aswell

I have, and I did think of that, but RACQ already had the car at their depot.
Anyway, just got home from a long drive, with the car all delivered to the preferred mechanic. Thanks everyone for the advice, and the Ho Hars who are virtually the Super Heroes of the AULRO community :)
