Hey Guys,

I am coming up to the end of my warranty (defender 130) and want to make sure all loose ends have been tied off. Have just got off the phone from the land rover dealer I got the car from and they don't do an end of warranty inspection. That was news to me because they did one this time last year by mistake when I took the car in for a service.

It's probably a good thing for me to do anyway so can anyone recommend any Canberra mechanics who can be relied on for this sort of thing?

Thanks,

Jason

I can definitely recommend either canberra motor works in Mitchell or Hume off road, both know defenders very well, with CMW being a land rover specialist.
Both will give you great service

I too have had very good experiences with Canberra Motor Works. Ray is a very experienced LR mechanic, knowledgeable and thorough. Charges accordingly :). They would be my first choice for a condition inspection or mechanical work of any complexity.

Having said that, I haven't been there for quite a few months and when I was in there a couple of days ago to buy parts, Ray and Cathy were absent and a new guy Richard helped me out. Perhaps CMW might be under new ownership?

I've used Hume Off Road a couple of times too. They were helpful (and cheaper!) but a misdiagnosis of a minor oil leak made me think perhaps not as knowledgeable about Land Rover idiosyncrasies (they suggested a leaking oil pressure switch even though didn't look much like the source - turned out to be leaking 't-seals' on rear bearing cap, a common Tdi problem).
