Hi all,

I had some issues earlier today engaging my CDL. The small lever would only move about 10mm or so left / right, I got no CDL light and the testing the wheels after jacking showed definitely no locking. Some poking around underneath showed no movement on the linkage to the transmission.

After a little light percussive maintenance, I got movement and CDL operation back, but I have the following questions:

- Can anyone confirm the centre of the small lever head should be level with the driver's side edge of the cubby box when the CDL is disengaged? That seems closer to the driver's leg than before. It almost feels like the small lever has 3 left / right positions - CDL on, CDL off and something in the middle. The middle position has the right of the cdl knob in line with the right of the cubbybox, which is where I remember it being.

- Can anyone confirm the final linkage to the transmission is resting (or very close to) one of the transmission bolts with CDL disengaged? See pic one attached. Pic 2 is cdl on, and the "middle" is somewhere in between.

Thanks in advance, I have 300km on the highway to do later today and would love not to kill my transmission / driveline ;)

What year is yours?

Trying to get it in/out, you may need to rock the car gently to get it to engage properly. And I always find it seems to work better if I make sure its out of gear first.
Mines in the shop at present, so I cant confirm, but they have just adjusted it for me as it tends to pop out when in LR. They told me it was cable based, but looking at yours, its mechanical based.:confused:

When I first got my car, I complained that the lever seemed to "self-centre" itself in all positions. They told me that was normal, but some time later I came across a thread which says there's a "fix" for it, which involves working on the detent lever section. I haven't been able to find the thread again though :(

MY14 so still to iron out the "quirks" ;)

Looks to be all solid linkages from what I could see (although it was cold and wet so my patience was pretty short), no cables from what I could see.

MY14 - It's under warranty, so don't risk damaging it by trying to fix it yourself. Just take it to your dealer and they'll sort it out.
