Removed my factory rims today to give them a good clean, and saw this green cable has been rubbing the inside of the rims....back to bare wire.

Is this the brake pad sensor cable ?

I have covered it now in electrical tape for some protection. If this is the sensor cable I guess I could leave it this way until they need replacing (assuming the sensor and cable is one part) ?

Anyone come across this before ?

Yes to both - the pad wear sensor cable and is replaced with a new sensor attached if needed.

Yep. That's the brake pad sensor wear cable.
The sensor and cable are all in one.
Looks like it might not have been routed properly. Hard to tell by the pic.

Yeah, that is the pad wear sensor lead. There is one on the right rear and on on the left front axle .

The lead usually has some rubber sleeving to protect it from abrasion

You can change it without removing the pads, but there is a risk it will descintigrate and leave the contact behind.

If its not worn right through I would replace it next pad change.

Thanks guys.

Have about another 40k before I will need to replace them as they were changed at 50k, so will keep an eye it, whenever I swap my tyres over.

Might have to look at the rear sensor to see if it has a sheath, and add a bit more protection to this one.
