does anyone have a decent pic of the heater demister pipes that go to the windscreen on a series ii?

i have the heater and the flexible tubing used to connect to the demister pipes but have no decent idea of the setup

Hi Dave, it's useless anyway, but i will brave the cold for you and take some pics
Basically the heater has a bit of vacuum cleaner hose that feeds up into the dash and feeds to the demistor vents, absoluty useless but it's what mr land rover did.
Back soon, too cold to be out there long!!!!

just to clarify

i am after pic or info on the early setup for the series II with the separate wiper motors, not the later IIa setup with the worm driven wipers..

any help much appreciated

Mine are not installed, but I do have some demister discharge nozzles. If you need a picture of them, I could dig them out. It might take a while though.

Hello from Brisbane.

Like the rest, I don't actually have any pictures, but we had a heater demister unit in an old Series 2A farm truck.

The heat outlets were made out of metal and looked a bit like the triagular ends of an old vacuum cleaner head - these screwed to the metal trim at the base of the two screens and the air came via the flexible hoses from the recirculating unit on the fire wall through the apertures at the bottom and top of the parcel tray.

I fitted a similar type of thing to a Mini Moke back in the late 70s using the plastic nozzles from an HR Holden - the Leyland part was back then costing $45 for something with less substance than a kid's beach bucket!

Cheers,

Hello again.

In case you don't get any photos soon, just about every second photo of a Series 2A Land Rover interior in any of the UK mags (Classic LR, LR Monthly etc) will show the demister nozzles - firewall mounted heaters were a common fitment there.

Hope this is more useful than my previous post.

Cheers,

I can take some images for you this afternoon after work, I have the set up in my bloodbox, round type smiths heater, with convoluted tubing similar to what would be fitted to a vacuum cleaner, also it has the twin wiper motors, cheers Dennis

This is the best I could do

and
http://i659.photobucket.com/albums/uu319/DJM110/IMG_2864_zps045d92fe.jpg
they pass through standard holes in the bulkhead, elongated hole just above the heater, and come out either side (R & L) of the instrument cluster through a round hole, then connected to the demister pipes, hope that's of some help, cheers Dennis

Hello again.

I can see you are fixed now.

However, there are a few variations of the theme:

of the plastic tube or the steel tube?

my smiths heater takes 1.25" ID flexible tube (i am using aircraft fire proof cable ducting) and will make the pipes out of 1.25" OD or as close as i can get :p

fed the tubing thru the dash from the heater today... what a tedious little task that was...

cable tied to the wiper motors for the moment

now to wire the potentiometer into the circuit and we are nearly ready for stanthorpe in winter :D:D:D
