Sounds like it's similar to OPAL fuel, crap stuff.

I recall in the late 60's or early 70's a product which was a powder and you just added water.
My friends parents ran their 179 HD on it a lot.
Trying to think of the name....plusgas rings a bell.

Why wouldn't you just carry 5L of real petrol in a mini Jerry can? I don't get what the benefit of this stuff is. Non-flammable maybe?

it doesnt go off, and as its got a reasonably high vapour point its safer to carry in the car.
it would be very hard to start a petrol engine on it from cold but a warmed up engine that you just ran out of fuel should restart with it.
think of it as halfway between diesel and petrol and you're on the right track
