I started my final fortnight at work last Thursday. After 45 years of working I reckon I deserve a break.

WOOHOO! :D

8 more sleeps and retirement beckons. I'll have a week at home then 5 weeks away on the next Great Edjit Adventure. Then LSL at half pay for a while and after that I'll have to rely on my own wits, rat cunning and Super savings to survive whatever gets thrown at me.

I'm bloody looking forward to it.

Enjoy, it is really the greatest feeling to finally be your own boss without the stress, for those at 60 don’t wait, I was 65 that is my only regret that I didn’t go sooner. Have never been more content! In most instances the extra five years of work don’t make any difference at all, do the sums.

Good for you Numpty, I did years ago after 50 years of work and have never looked back.

Don't be too concerned about future income - with super + part age pension (+ wits) I think you'll find that you can live pretty well.

Before anyone applies for part age pension it is good to talk to someone who knows about how your assets should be arranged & stated. Any LRs in the equation can be written right down :).

I retired at 60 , the answer is in the sums and research and it is not rocket science either !! .

I'm 61 and will be 62 when the LSL runs out.

I'm over worrying about the money side of it these days. If you believe the naysayers, you'd never have enough. Retirement and it's accompanying income is a very personal thing and believe me, I've done the figures (for me) to death over the last few years.

It's now time to act ;)

Oh, and Pop, I plan to be up in Qld for Canungra in October. Also to collect Leon and finally take him home. I hope to catch a few of you there.

Well done Perry,
I hope you have a very slow last week!

As for values and pensions and stuff, gunbuggies are highly valued and therefore you wont get a pension whilst you have one...

I have a solution!

So, Just be careful coming down my street when you drive across to drop
the gunbuggy to me, theres some potholes that are deceptively deep.

Seriously, enjoy the time off, you've earned it!

All the best mate and do not worry about money you will adjust your priorities according to your income.
You will be surprised how much you can save in overheads needed when you work.
When I retired my income dropped to a 33% of my previous financial year income and we never have been out of the important essentials in life.
We went OS for 8 months and after that we built a motor home and lived on the road touring all the east part of the country for 2 years.
Retirement is full of possibilities to enjoy life. :)

Congratulations.
You won't regret it, you will be better off getting off the treadmill:).
I stayed 2 years longer than intended because I liked the job. Now I don't miss it a bit.
You won't have as much spare time as you might think though.....

Cheers,
Terry

good on yer numpty.

I retired in September and all I hear from people wherever I go is "what do you do with your time?"

you'll wonder how you had enough time to previously go to work.....and now you can do what you want , when you want , where you want.....enjoy it heaps...I do.

I don't know how many times I have to remind you Perry, since you have been with that mob you haven't done a days work yet. (Good thing too)
In seven more sleeps you will suddenly be in the position to realise just how short a day actually is, as by the time you have done just a little each day on each of those projects you have sitting waiting, the day will be gone.
Congratulations and welcome to the ALMA (Australian Leisure Management Association).
Regards
Glen
