Nanocom Evo works with USB but not OBD (Not a issue w/ nanocom)

Hi guys,

This was initially a nanocom issue post, but it looks like it may be something to do with wiring in my 06 TD5

Pretty much i got my hands on a nonocom evo on loan, i plugged it in an it all worked great, I then saw there was a firmware update for i updated it. I went to plug the nanocom in the following morning and it didnt work. Naturally i thought it to be the firmware or the unit itself.

It has now been a day and i have just noticed that my clock, interior light, cigarette socket and radio are not working, yet the fuses are fine. I checked the radio fuse (number 17) and Fuse number (8) near the gear lever, and the fuse under the driver seat. All looked ok, and i even swapped them out to check.

This is starting to sound expensive :(

I don't remember, but I have had it blow when I plugged the nanocom in once.
I remember it was listed as engine diagnostics. Immobiliser I think ?

Yeah, there is a 5 amp in the cabin fuse panel, and i think a 15 amp under the driver seat.

Ok, so i have replaced three fuses and the issue still persists.

For the fuse box under the drivers seat: If i put one probe of the multi meter on the common +ve and one on a ground bolt i get 12.56V, also if i but the probe on the common -ve and ground bolt i also get 12.56V. But if i put a probe on each of the fuse poles (small bits of metal on top of the fuse) i get nothing, or a low voltage (0.02mv), am i doing something wrong? The multi meter is set to 12 DC.

After gettng no reading for the fuses, i tested it with the horn, by beeping it, then removing the fuse and confirming it no longer worked.

Any other thoughts? Looks like i will be taking it to an auto electrician.

If you plug the nanocom lead into the obd port before plugging in the unit it WILL fry the fuse and may short the unit so it could be the unit. Try getting in contact with Colin at BBS. He's pretty good if you give him plenty of details and you've tried the obvious things to fix.

I am currently discussing this with Colin. Although i thought it may be the unit, that still doesnt explain why all the fuses look all right, yet the clock, radio etc still dont work.

Also the nanocom still powers up when plugged in via usb and is fully functional.

I tried that, with a probe on each contact of the fuse, but couldn't get a reading, for any of them :( Not even ones that i knew to be working like the horn. So for good measure i replaced them with new fuses, and still the nanocom, clock, interior light and radio dont work.

FOUND IT!!!

It was fuse 30 in the cabin fuse panel.
