They buried Casey Kasem on the weekend. He died on the 15th from Lewy body disease, a progressive form of dementia, which left him unable to speak, eat or move on his own.

I used to enjoy listening to his radio show "American Top 40 Casey's coast to coast" which played the top 40 hits for the week as rated by "Billboard" Magazine.

It could be. What station does he listen to?
They reconstructed some old shows from some years ago for rebroadcast. I didn't reasise they made it to Australia.

Just been listening to one of his shows on the internet. July '78.
Baker St (one of my faves) was number two.
I think I'll listen to one from the '80's.

Yep. Got your email.
I thought I'd replied but obviously not.
Some good songs there. Notably Doug Parkinson. A few other good Aussie bands there as well like Zoot.
The thing is, it's not a Casey Kasem thing.
The intent of this thread was not about top 40 hits but about Casey Kasem and his radio show. It was the soundtrack of my youth. I've got to find the shows that have Toto in the countdown. Now, that brings back memories.

I'd forgotten I'd emailed it, Mick.
I realize that the thread was/is a about Casey Kasem but, like all AULRO threads it wandered.

Did you know he was the voice of Shaggy in the Scooby Doo cartoons?

And Shaggy's father.

Casey lent his voice to many animated characters and voice overs.

Didn't he do a stint at "Radio Plakeu" in South Vietnam ?

And Yep! I remember Ward "Pally" Austin and the night he tried to ride a white horse into a strip club/disco in William St Sydney in the early 70's, I didn't go there too many Septics,I used to go to the "Sandra Nelson Club' or to the "Jungle Room"

I think he did. That's what got him into radio I think.
