I hope he gets more support than David Hicks got.

And so he should!! I find it disturbing Hicks in back in society... he made choices that he should have had his citizenship cancelled for.
As for Grests, he was there as a reporter as opposed to a combatant
a legal role as opposed to an offending one.

We should be pushing buttons to get him back putting pressure where we can,
with Hicks (and these ones in ISIS now) they should accept they took a role as a combatant and must pay that penalty.
I believe those who left to fight with ISIS and have apparently posted photos of themselves with bodies of slain opponents and I believe bodies of soldiers/police who were slaughtered should be treated accordingly, war criminals if its considered a war, terrorists if its not, but cancel any citizenship and refuse any entry back. They want to be in that country they made a choice.

I feel very strongly about this stuff. We need to make a strong stand and stick with it, none of this namby pamby crap.

For each one that is restricted from reentry allow one more legal refugee in permanantly.

I have no idea what Peter Greste is supposed to have said. Has anyone seen anything of the "offending/criminal" articles that he has supposedly written.
And there is another aspect. And remember, I DO NOT know anything about what his "conviction" is based upon.
However, we in Australia, have our own standards,.... basically, people here can say anything, about anything or anyone, and they can get away with it,....they think it's their right. As an example, there were people on TV in Australia calling Bin Laaden a hero after the twin towers episode. Imagine if similar comments were made in "other" countries.
I don't know what Peter is said to have written, only that liberal Aussie attitudes are definitely not what is allowed in many other countries.
And, of course, I wish him an early release.
