Looking to get the missus on a new plan as her old one has expired.

Looking for a sub $50 pm plan (pref 30ish)
Used mostly for phone calls and texts. Very little data use - 500Mb would be more than adequate I suspect.
Would prefer Telstra network (3G is fine).

It seems telechoice is one of the only ones to offer (3G) Telstra network. The others largely use Optus which I know has been problematic.

Only want a SIM only plan - I have a surplus iphone 4 she can use.

Thanks

I recall reading that the Aldi mobile plans sit on the Telstra 3G network, but I have no idea about their quality of service. They are cheap.

My wife has an Amaysim / Optus plan at $20 and 7 cents a call is fantastic.
Usual Optus non coverage in the bush but this year much better on the Nullarbor and in WA than last time 5 years ago.
I have a Telstra $20 plan for if we need to phone in the bush but at $1 per minute , makes the eyes water waiting 20 minutes for the RTA.

Just remember that most of the sellers of plans that use the Telstra network, use the cut down Telstra network not the same network that Telstra uses. If you have a plan with Telstra you get the full network but if with another company that used Telstra they normally only have access to the reduced network.

Doubt there is a difference in town but maybe in the outback.

I know you weren't looking at Optus but they recently (in the last 2 weeks) updated their $35/month plan to be 300 minutes of calls, unlimited SMS and 500Mb data. It was previously $35 for 200 minutes, unlimited SMS and 200MB data. We have it with an iphone 4 for $5/month on a 24 month contract. Changing the plan didn't affect the contract term which expires in 6 months.

I'd have to think Telstra would have to have something equivalent to match it.
