Has anyone checked out the viability of buying ex MOD landrovers from the UK and bringing one out to Aus . I was just watching them being advertised on U-tube and they seemed to handle better and have more go than our Perentie,s also there is much more options available than our ex military rovers Cheers Noel

There are quite a few in Australia already.

Usual import rules apply - if relatively new then costs are prohibitive or you need to have owned and used the vehicle for a year before importing.
Older vehicles are easier but then it is an old vehicle.

As for as I'm aware that UK military landrovers do not have the galvanized chassis and bulkhead of the Perentie. They probably seem to handle and go better because they are no weighed down by the massive donk - maybe more economical to fit the smaller (300 tdi?) engine to a Perentie.

The coil sprung 90's and 110's have a normally aspirated 2.5 ltre diesel, one motor that was never imported into Australia by Leyland/Landrover, so all and any parts would have to be imported,i looked into it a few years ago,but I bought a Series 3 Lightweight instead (which I just rolled) and which I will rebuild :)
It might be worth looking into bringing in one less motor, and then fit a 300TDI to it,as I think they use the R380 gearbox and Transfer assy.
cheers
