Hi all,

This has me baffled.

The EAS shows no faults on Storey Wilson's software, but the car will not rise. The pump does not turn over, but runs when I switch on through the software.
There are no leaks in the system
I have replaced the valve block, pressure switch + driver pack
I have rebuilt the pump
The becm reports as it should

The car has been running around with the timer disconnected for about 12 months and I'm wondering whether it may have become damaged. Does anyone have experience of a damaged timer? if so, what are the symptoms?

Have you checked the thermal cut out switch on the compressor, check this out.

Yes that is typical of a thermal switch issue.. Should just override the buggers

You guys... :-)
Sounds exactly the issue. I had a good look round Storey ' s website and missed this one. Can it be overridden in the short term?

Yes - you can just ground it out - the black wire on the compressor that is. But be aware of when and for how long your compressor is operating for. You wouldn't want to burn it out. Do you have a EAS delay timer switch installed? Handy for occassions like this. ]

In the past I have bypassed the Thermal switch inside the pump by soldering a wire across the terminals in place of the switch. 5 years of running with no dramas on one car, at least 2 on another.

I don't have a delay timer. What is it and how does it work?

Hi

The EAS delay timer switch mod will disable the automatic stuff on the EAS

You can also pull the EAS delay timer relay which is located under the passengers set

Sorry, don't know where my head is sometimes, of course I have a delay timer!

But do you have a switch installed to save unplugging it every time you want to freeze the auto function of the EAS?

Alrighty....

Tested the continuity between the orange and black wires and got a big reading and no buzz. Aha! it's the thermal switch as a lot of you said it would be.

Removed the pump, took off the back plate and low and behold the orange wire was loose (which explains why it worked on odd occasions).

Re-tested continuity and the switch is fine. The motor was dirty after 17 years of use so gave it a good dose of compressed air and fitted it all back together having removed the loose plastic o-ring and fiddling like hell with the brushes.

Popped it all back in the car and away we go! working like it should.

Just now got to get used to the suspension pumping again and determining whether the pump is running normally or too much....

Thanks everyone :D

Recommend fitting a pressure gauge on the air tank 6mm line. It provides assurance that the compressor is generating sufficient pressure (145psi ish), and helps to see how quickly it gets there.

Something I always bear in mind is. There is only one thing that starts the compressor (the low pressure switch) and two things that stop it, that being high temp and 145psi ish via the pressure switch.

poleonpon - great result by the way. Perserverence pays.
