It finally became a real defender

After 99,000km of dry foot motoring last week I was finally presented with a drip on my accelerator foot.....

And after 4 days and 3,000km of driving in the cold rain it became annoying....

Does anyone have a handy link to the fix for this to same me hours of searching?

Have fun. Every time I thought I had fixed the leak, it would reappear elsewhere. Have to come to accept it as "one of those things".

After HOURS of searching, trial and error and hosing the car down I found the leak onto my foot originated from the crusty seals between the roof gutter and the 'A' pillar on the front corner of the car. Water was being pushed into the vehicle while driving, running down the inside of the pillar and making its way to the footwell dripping directly onto my foot. I re-sealed this on both side with roof silicone and haven't had a problem since. Touch wood... Hope this helps.

My "zara" 1978 series III with canvas roof and our Defender 2003 leak in exactly the same spot, on the drivers foot. Go figure :D

Mine leaks everywhere and I've given up trying to fix it (not that i really tried, just look at the design!)

But, what does happen is if the door membrane has become compromised (ie the butyl has dried out etc) water finds its way along the check strap, drips off the end of it and directly onto your foot.

Or its the windscreen bracket bolts holes.

Or its the A pillar to roof.

Or its the windscreen to bulkhead foam 'seal'.

Or its the windscreen seal.

OR its the door seals...:confused:

I'm with you there - the only solution that really works. My previous five Defenders directed water onto my right foot. I'm not sure about the puma - so far it hasn't but it's really too much to think that it won't.

The Defenders are built with leaks into them.

I think i should buy shares in Sikaflex, with the amount of leaks I've fixed in mine. The foot leak for me was the clutch pedal box.
