So I've finally driven off without my fuel cap and have not recovered it yet
Wondering if anyone has/is/is going to wreck a incomplete perentie or may know someone with a fuel cap for sale?

Check ebay, there's a couple on there but not cheap.

It should've been held on with a chain. Not sure exactly where you're based, but there's a guy on ebay parting out a Perentie in Katoomba - it's probably worth asking him. He's a nice bloke. This guy:

While we're on the subject of fuel caps, I've seen mention of the fact that there is a locking Iveco fuel cap that will fit the Perentie, however I'm unable to find any reference to a specific Iveco part number. I know the original LR cap is a threaded one with an external fill tube diameter of 70mm, but I'd prefer not to have to make guesses before ordering one. Does anyone happen to know what a compatible Iveco part number would be?

Didn't bother grabbing a p/n as the Iveco dealers hold them in stock.
I just asked to try it on the threads before I bought it.
In the end, and considering the price, I just fitted a padlock to the existing cap.

I was told that truck places have screw on caps like that.
I gave up my perentie fuel cap for that reason. I have a solid reputation for filling up and leaving the fuel cap. I now have a rule of putting it on the driver seat. Haven't lost one for about 3 years.

It's definitely a worry considering the going price of a genuine LR cap. I'm lucky enough to have a cap with a chain on the underside which connects to a wire anchor inside the neck of the fuel tank, so no chance forgetting it, my main concern is that someone would knock the cap off, given the chance and a pair of pliers. I'd only had my perentie for about 2 weeks before someone roughly pried the AFM badge off the side, I mean I was going to do it myself anyways but what a :censored:!
That's a creative mod 87County, but I've ultimately decided against modding my own cap, and want to track down the elusive locking ones. I'll do my best to report back with a brand and PN when I find a decent one for anyone else who's interested.

The other day at a truck spares place I tested a Western Star Trucks fuel cap and it screwed on perfectly. When I was given the $105 price tag, it screwed off even more perfectly.
