I need simple, easy to understand advice.

When i got my P38A a month or so ago, i was told it was not on EAS. I notice when the warning things come up it tells me that EAS Manual is on.

What does this mean. I see from the books it should read Auto. Im told it is on springs, but i wouldnt know what im looking for.

All the EAS bits seem to be there so if this is the case, can i get back to EAS Auto and if so, and this where i need very simple english, how do i do it.

Look underneath. If it has been converted to coils you will have:

If it still has air springs (EAS) you will see:

If it has coils then whatever the EAS electronics say is meaningless because it is doing nothing.

If the EAS setting hasn't been turned off it'll still show faults/settings as it expects it to be there. Find someone with a Nanocom (or next time you're in Sydney I can do it, let me know so I can buy the update for P38 though) to turn the settings off. May also require some additional electrical disconnection.

And under the bonnet, you you see something like what's shown in the photo above - once the EAS box lid is lifted. Ignore the orange hose. If the valve block and compressor is still in place.

Yeh I run an adapter from the emergency EAS air valves to a nitto. I need another air tank for volume, and create less restriction (tyre valve restricts a lot I'd say) to make mine more useful though. Good for emergency use though.

When I got my springs put on the kit came with a plug in bypass for the EAS ECU. This brings up the message EAS Manual when I start her up.

I just had a look underneath and its got these big blue springs and no sign of any EAS. There are no shocks up the middle of the springs, like i have seen on some members Rangies, is this a problem and should i install shocks.

A follow up to my question is this. What can the compresser be used for now its no longer part of the EAS. Is it possible to use it for blowing tyres etc.

You'll have shocks. Take a fresh look. They're outboard of the springs. If you still have the air tank and the compressor, then you have on-board air. You just need to make sure it's wired and plumbed correctly.

The air tank should be in-board of the chassis rail, in line with the drivers door.
