View Full Version : D3 fuel gauge creates it's own diesel!

Noticed today that my (2005 D3) fuel gauge was indicating just below 3/4 full, which was interesting as I was sure it was sitting below 1/2 a couple of days ago and hadn't bought fuel.

So I filled the tank to be safe as the trip meter was sitting on about 550km (around town). 58L later I had my confirmation that the gauge had decided to read high.

Anyone seen something similar on the D3?

As it happens a Nanocom unit turned up in the post today so I have another tool to exploit if needed.

I've had this happen on several occasions over the past 3 years. Took it to the techos & was told (from memory) it was something to do with the sender unit. I asked them to replace it until I got the quote to fix it. Needless to say I'm still driving round with it occasionally showing a false reading. I always zero the trip counter every time I fill up and have a good idea of the kms/litre the vehicle gets.

Cheers

I had this happen in Orange on way home from VIC so we ran out of fuel as I did not look at k's. Figured out once we got home this was the problem and I am the same, still driving with the problem as it's intermittent and go off k's now. Not worth the hassle to replace. Would do it myself anyway.

The joys of older D3's. But I would not own anything but LR.
